Virgin Mobile is planning to offer unique video content updated daily to drive its customers to use 3G services. “The operator is planning a different approach to 3G content to its competitors, believing a diet of unique content updated daily will drive consumer take-up better than merely repurposing big-brand content for 3G.” The video content will point to the generic catalogue content Virgin will offer – for example a video on the music industry will offer music video downloads. I think this sort of on-sell activity will yield big rewards for the industry.
