Rapper’s New Single Features Ringtone Software

Well first of all, this is not a first. Disney-owned Hollywood Records and Artemis Records have already done this before: packaging a ringtone software (Xingtone, which I’ve covered extensively in the past) within a new CD to allow users to make ringtones out of the album they’re buying.
Anyway, Atlantic Records UK has released the first CD with “selectable ringtone capability”: The rapper Fabolous‘ new single “Baby” includes built-in software that lets listeners isolate any part of the song and load it onto their phones. It retails for 3.99 pounds ($7.51), the same price as other CD singles.
“It’s the next step for music lovers,” said Crispin Futrille, whose company Bounce supplied Warner with the technology. “Ultimately the idea is to get this included on all CDs.”
