Mobot Partners With Magazines To Create Interactive Experience

Mobot has announced its first deals with a magazine to create an interactive experience using mobile phone cameras. A 12-month deal with ELLEgirl allows users to take a photo of an ad (or any page, really) in the magazine and send it to Mobot. Mobot then sends back the content that corresponds to the image – which could be directions to the closest place to buy a product, entry into competitions, free samples… I wrote a fair bit about Mobot yesterday with the announcement they were offering a service to buy mobile music content by photographing a CD cover, so I won’t repeat myself. Along with ELLEgirl Mobot has signed deals with VIBE and VIBE VIXEN for much the same thing (PDF). All magazines have a young readership…”This is a great solution for both magazines’ young demographic who use mobile phones daily and are accustomed to instant gratification” according to Mobot’s CEO, and Carol Watson, Publisher of VIBE and VIBE VIXEN, agrees. “Mobile phone usage definitely
speaks to our readers’ lifestyles. This relationship with Mobot offers our readers an interactive experience, literally putting the advertisers in the consumer’s hand.”
