Crown Castle Forms Subsidiary To Handle Mobile TV

Crown Castle, the company that is trialing DVB-H technology in the USA with Nokia, has formed a new subsidiary (Crown Castle Mobile Media) to take care of the mobile TV side of the business. Crown Castle has 5 MHZ of unencumbered nation-wide spectrum to devote to mobile TV in the United States, which is a pretty good thing to bring to the table. From what I understand nation-wide spectrum is reasonably difficult to get in the US…

The press release also quotes respectable people emphasizing the fact that DVB-H is an open standard, a direct attack on Qualcomm’s competing proprietary technology, MediaFLO.
