CTIA Brings One Of The Biggest Shows Of The Year To NOLA

Lots of signs pointing to an increasingly hot wireless industry will be bandied about during the next few days but the effect CTIA is having on New Orleans may say the most. Downtown hotels are claiming a sellout, the vast Morial Convention Center is maxed out and entertainment/dining venues are booking up fast as an estimated 35,000-plus attendees and 1,000-plus vendors descend on the city for what will be one of the largest events of the year. Estimates suggest an event that will be 15-20 percent larger than the 2004 Atlanta show.
On another note, the Times-Picayune says the hospitality industry is “gearing up for a large, hip crowd with tons of special events and playtime around New Orleans.” The example: Jay Leno’s appearance at Tuesday nigh’s gala. That may be the best Leno joke this week.
