Moto-iTunes Confused Messaging; Phone Delayed Due To Operators

Updated, read below…Talk about foot-dragging, this one has to top everything else: it has to do with the negotiations with music labels on one hand and the operators on the others. It surely has to be a nightmare, at the best…
Reuters: Anyway, Motorola has come out again, this time at CeBit, and said they are working on several mobile phones that are compatible with Apple’s iTunes and some of which can store eight hours of songs.
The fact that some iTunes phones can this much music is different from initial announcements last year that Motorola phones would only carry a small number of songs.
Chicago Tribune: Apparently the phone unveiling was postponed at last minute after discussions late Wednesday night with “our operators,” according to Moto. Motorola discussed “the logistics of this product with our carriers across the globe,” she said. The result: “We decided to wait to announce it when everybody is in sync with it.”
The translation: Everyone’s fighting over it, and the operators don’t want to budge an inch on restricting the features of the phone (with Bluetooth, for God sake!)
Times UK: Analysts…speculated that there had been a lack of interest from Vodafone, the biggest operator.
AP: Volker Haebel, marketing director of Motorola’s German division, said a launch could come in the U.S. within a few weeks. “The partners have to dance together,” he said, referring to the marriage of Motorola’s cell phones with Apple’s music platform. “You have to find the rhythm.”
