A study by M:Metrics found that only 58% of users of mobile phones in the United States used the handset for non-voice functions between November and January. The statistics show that 62.6% of people did not send or receive a text message in those three months. There’s a graph with all the stats, such as 12.9% downloading a ringtone and 3.3% downloading a mobile game. “Men were far more likely than women to have downloaded a game, which may be a reflection of content… “Too many of the titles available for sale are action/adventure and sports games,” according to M:Metrics, in direct contrast to the idea that mobile games were a gender-neutral market. The figures are probably improving even as you read this, but the fact that 42% of respondents had only figured out how to dial a number is disturbing…
