MP3 players: “Size does not matter”

In good news for the battle of mobile phones against portable MP3 players a recent poll by WebTV Europe found that “of the 5,000 tracks that can be stored on a standard MP3 machine, on average only 2% is ever used…It concludes that many consumers would be happy having their favourite 100 songs available, which could be easily delivered through their mobile phone, rather than a separate machine.” Personally I don’t find this surprising – which is why Steve Jobs recently added photo capability to the iPods. I’ve heard some good reasons why video isn’t included yet, but I’m pretty sure it will be soon, along with the ability to store other types of information.
