Director of Marketing, Mobile Content: Gaming & Graphics

Job Description:

– Oversee Virgin Mobile’s (VMU) gaming and graphics businesses

– Deliver revenue goals and profit objectives for VMU’s gaming and graphics products – in accordance with the business budget

– Develop and execute strategic marketing plan and product roadmap for these key businesses

– Design marketing programs to drive VMU’s business in these categories – including unique promotions, advertising programs, pricing options and POS execution

– Merchandise VMU’s gaming and graphics stores on website and handset deck

– Assess how VMU’s competitors are playing in the gaming and graphics space – and how VMU will need to respond to changes in the competitive landscape

– Work with VMU’s research team to test product concepts in focus groups, on-line panels, and as a part of other market research efforts

– Interface with VMU’s brand and promotions teams to incorporate product messaging into national promotions, point of sale materials, and on-air media

– Create marketing requirements and financial forecasts for all new products and programs

– Assess product performance and analyze the effectiveness of marketing programs launched – frequently read out to senior executives

– Evaluate, negotiate, and execute deals with video game publishers, third party content aggregators and media/entertainment companies

– Manage partner relationships with key vendors to develop and deliver content that drives Virgin Mobile’s business in the gaming and graphics categories

– Maintain close ties with the vendor community and stay abreast of developments in the competitive landscape

– Evaluate new and emerging technologies and products relevant to wireless gaming and downloadable entertainment content products

– Work closely with VMU’s IT, Product Development and Customer Care groups throughout the product development process

Experience Required:

– 5-10 years in consumer marketing, product marketing or strategic marketing

– 3-5 years in the gaming/mobile gaming space

– Previous experience managing important vendor relationships/partnership marketing

– Strong knowledge and experience with emerging technologies, particularly wireless technologies and services

– Strong interpersonal skills

– Effective communication skills

– Leadership skills – managing a team and interfacing with senior executives

– Experience with youth-focused consumer products preferred

– MBA preferred
