This position works with internal and external resources to manage customer data information and systems for USATODAY.com. The Marketing Database Manager is responsible for acting on audience growth, profile development and segmentation directives from senior management and defining, driving and executing product strategy, implementation and management of marketing data assets.

Specific responsibilities include developing and managing a master customer database to serve as a single source of key marketing, sales and customer data. The Marketing Database Manager is expected to work cross-functionally to ensure the coordination of identifying, securing, managing and deploying key customer data elements. This includes managing profile acquisition and storage efforts for site registration, email newsletters, and other product and service registration obtained from disparate data points.

The Marketing Database Manager will develop and deploy strategies for growing, enhancing and optimizing the collection of customer data and aggregate and leverage information in support of customer intelligence, audience-based profiling and advertising targeting efforts (demographic and behavioral).

Requirements include a college degree (advanced degree in an appropriate field a plus) with 5-7 years of prior experience in online marketing database management and/or customer relationship management. (Experience in the online publishing industry is desirable.) A strong track record of experience with customer database management, registration, profiling and segmentation is required. Preferred candidates will have demonstrated success converting business strategy to product vision, and designing customer data repository requirements and features to successfully meet those needs.

The position requires strong qualitative skills and demonstrated success working in a collaborative environment and with other functional units. The Marketing Database Manager will work closely with proprietary and licensed software applications key to the execution of targeted online marketing and advertising campaigns. This position also requires intermediate and working knowledge of database applications and design, integration and data warehousing systems. Advanced analytics/business intelligence skills and experience required in addition to the ability to communicate complex requirements and concepts to technical and non technical teams.
