HP’s Loss, Apple’s Gain

While Hewlett Packard is having a bad week or so, Apple stands to gain some firepower. HP’s senior vice president of marketing, Allison Johnson will be moving to Apple to breath some new life into Apple marketing. In her new position, she will be responsible for the Apple’s global advertising.

Don’t get me wrong, the iPod commercials are wicked cool. But when there are Photoshop Tutorials on how to make your own, and services where you can pay to have one made, it may be time to change things up a bit.

Apple is always innovative, and their commercials follow their brand and design very well. But looking at some of the cool commercials that have come from HP in the past months, I’m sure Allison will help usher-in a new era in Apple’s future advertising.

This will actually be a second-term for Allison, who has worked at Apple Computers Inc. previously.

The last series of HP commercials were very good, and Apple has been stuck in a rut with the damn dancing people for too long.

A new series of brand commercials along the lines of the HP commercials airing alongside new Mac mini, iPod, Power Mac (when the next rev is introduced), and iMac commercials would be fantastic.
