Cherrysauce Hits A Million – Monthly

Cherrysauce has seen hits to its mobile portal pass 1 million per month this year, with around 12-15% of visitors continuing on to paid services, compared to an average of 2-3% who do the same online. I guess thats 120,000 to 150,000 customers a month, which isn’t bad. But the managing director of the company goes on to say that “Over 40% of all mobile content sold is erotic”, which I think is demonstrably untrue unless you consider a very wide array of things to be arousing. The release quotes the Juniper prediction of adult content reaching $1 billion by 2008, but fails to mention other predictions which put music and games on mobiles to be about $4 billion each by that time. Not to mention that the current ringtone market is somewhere between $3-5 billion, already blowing the 40% claim out of the water. I think people are becoming a little to eager to claim that mobiles are being used primarily for pornographic reasons, whether they’re for the concept or against it…
