A Finnish TV show about the gaming lifestyle called Tilt.tv sells mobile java games for 5-7 euros. Nothing particularly interesting there, but its service has recently been upgraded with a Mobile Multimedia Community from Small Planet, which allows Tilt.tv’s audience to chat with other members, recommend games and give their opinion on games that they’ve tried. Here’s where it gets interesting: “A weekly comparison of game downloads before and after the community features were launched has shown an impressive 60% increase of premium game downloads.” Now, I haven’t seen the actual figures or checked if there was any other reason for the increase – such as the release of a popular game – but if the increase was due to the community features other content providers would really want to look at offering a similar thing…
