Juniper Research has come out with a report that “adult-oriented mobile text, audio and video will increase by more than 50 percent this year, reaching $1.01 billion, and will top $2 billion by 2009″. Last year the Yankee Group didn’t expect Adult content to reach $1 billion until 2008. Although a billion dollar market sounds impressive (whenever it actually arrives) it’s best to put it into perspective. Other predictions include mobile games hitting $6.4 billion by 2010, music to hit $4 billion by 2008 and so on. In fact, Strategy Analytics predicted that Entertainment and Media mobile revenue would be over 63 billion euros by 2008. All in all, it doesn’t look like adult content will be driving 3G uptake after all…
