As an update to the Sony StreamMan service reported last year Ringtonia has pointed to an article pointing out that Sony is beginning the international rollout – starting with Europe and moving on to the US and Asia. The StreamMan service is basically a radio station on your handset, where you pay to listen to songs rather than to own them. Why would anyone do this? Well, there’s the fact that handsets currently have a limited memory while streaming is potentially unlimited. There’s also an interesting pricing model based on Finnish telco TeliaSonera, which offered “a sliding scale beginning at 3.95 euros ($5.15) per month for a maximum of two hours’ listening per day, while downloaded songs cost 1.39 euros ($1.81) each”.
