HP announced a number of products yesterday and referenced a mysterious "Mobile Messenger" with few details.  The MM is rumored to be the successor to the company’s 6300 series Phone Edition but not much else is likely to be confirmed by HP for a couple of weeks.  iPAQabilities has gotten hold of some nice photos of a device that sure sounds like the Mobile Messenger- the hw6500.  If these specs hold true the hw6500 looks like a really sweet device, maybe even a Treo-killer. Take a look at these specs and a really nice photo:

  • Bluetooth
  • GPS
  • 1200mAh lithium-ion removable battery
  • SDIO
  • mini SD
  • removable flip cover
  • USB desktop sync cradle
  • 1 model with feature 1.3MP camera and another model will feature no camer

iPAQabilities has some other great photos and information about this very nice Phone Edition.

As a long time pocket PC user, I have looked longingly at the Treo, especially the new 650. This new MM would be the one device that would definitely make me convert to a smartphone. The ability to move all my pocket PC material to a telephone would be just great.
