VCast launched today

Verizon has launched its Ev-Do based 3G service V Cast in the US today, prompting a flurry of “we’re now available on your mobile” press releases. The V Cast service will charge a monthly $15 access, following the example of Japan and South Korea which both have high take-up rates of 3G content based (in a large part) on the all-you-can-eat model. Some downloads, such as games and other premium content, will be charged. Analysts have begun raising their recommendations for
Verizon
based on its ability to benefit from “robust growth opportunities in the wireless content market”.
V Cast is available in 30 metropolitan markets and covers more than 75 million people – or around 25 percent of the US population.
