You’d think they would have noticed the wireless industry was serious when they blew all that money on 3G spectrum a few years ago… but this is interesting: “Wireless gaming is on track to become the single largest wireless data application category from a revenue perspective, overtaking ring tones in 2005 and rising to nearly $1.5 billion annually by 2008… Moreover, casual, community-oriented subscription game revenue will grow from a distinct minority of total revenues to market dominance by the end of 2008.” There’s a strong demand for multiplayer games with more direct interaction between the players, which has always been one of the most obvious strengths of mobile gaming…
