A huge mobile mobile content story is the deal struck between mobile media company Vidiator and the father of the modern superhero comic book Stan Lee, through the new company he cofounded POW! Entertainment. Is Stan excited about the new deal? “I’ve rarely ever been speechless in my life, but when they showed me the technology and how it works and what we’ll be able to do with it, I will admit that I came close,” said Lee. “The mind reels at the phantasmagorical possibilities of what we can accomplish with Vidiator — that, and the fact that they did it all without having to be bitten by radioactive spiders or exposed to cosmic rays.”
AWN are reporting that first off the blocs will be episodes from The Drifter and The Accuser, closely followed by 3D avatar-based products including Stripperella – one of Stan’s most risque creations.
In an indication of one of the reasons Stan Lee formed his own company, his most well-known creations are already in the mobile space following a deal between Marvel and Mforma. I’m pretty sure Stan won’t see any profit from that, whereas his new company is designed to create global franchizes in the entertainment industry, “including animation and live-action feature films, plus television, DVDs, video games, merchandising, and related ancillary markets”. Stan Lee has a cult following, and there are plenty of other comic creators with their own cult following who should soon be striking deals with mobile content providers.
