Mobile carriers are keen to promote and sell music on their networks, and want to add other genres to Hip Hop – the only style which has really embraced the mobile channel. As everyone expected, the music industry is terrified of piracy and its desire for a foolproof DRM (digital rights management) system is slowing deployment of the service. “But the mobile industry faces other issues as well, including establishing a standard content rating system, managing support for various digital music file formats and working out business models with content providers.”
