The recently announced consortium of 26 mobile carriers working on something called “Super 3G” left many people scratching their heads and wondering how it was different from the 4G standard which has been talked about for a while, and if there was no difference why the standard had been renamed. Mobilemag gave an answer from Samsung and <a href="http://www.lge.com/"LG Electronics suggesting that the consortium was part of NTT DoCoMo‘s plan to rule the world – or at least the mobile phone world. “Considering Docomo has always been the first to develop new technologies but failed in expanding market share due to staying away from global trend of standardization, Super 3G is a part of its efforts to dominate 4G market by drawing attention to a similar project while 4G standardization is under way.” (via techdirt.com)
