2005 International Consumer Electronics Show

The big news at the moment is the 2005 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) being held in Las Vegas from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th of January. With a host of celebrities (including everyone’s favorite slapstick kung-fu guy Jackie Chan) thousands of companies are purveying their wares, including many wireless exhibitors. Since Rafat didn’t spring for a first class airfare and five star hotel I won’t be forced to wander the labyrinth of vendors searching out mobile content providers, something I’m thankful for.

One session that looks interesting is the Mobile Gaming Experience – the Next Generation in Games & Devices forum. “To this point, the games industry has only just begin to explore the cutting edge technologies in developing mobile games and device sophistication – it is just emerging from its first generation. With that in mind, one can only imagine what the world of mobile games as a consumer experience will look like in two or three years. Mobile gaming and the portable device is the killer combination in the making and in this session, we begin to explore what that future world will look like.”

And for a general overview, PC World has covered that pretty well.
