Carriers will struggle with music on demand services

Strategy Analytics has expressed concern that carriers will struggle to cash in on the (by their estimate) $2 billion mobile music on demand (MMOD) market. “Online music stores based solely around cellular downloading capabilities cannot hope to compete with the lower costs, better interfaces, larger catalogs and faster transmission speeds of online sites offering music downloads over fixed broadband connections” said the consultancy, and recommended MMOD companies integrate with subscription based computer services such as iTunes.
