In U.S. Market, Cellphone Users Are Often All Talk

In the US the cellphone is still considered as a device used only for talking, according to the New York Times. This is partly because Americans are naturally garrulous, and partly because they use public transport less so aren’t able to play with their mobiles while travelling. Nevertheless, carriers will offer more and more data services “because “they have to say something,” said Edward Snyder, who follows the cellphone industry for Charter Equity Research. “It’s a competitive market, so you have to think up something to do.
