NPR, Director, Digital Media

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President for NPR Online, the Director of Digital Media leads the group of 13 web developers, system administrators, audio production staff and multi-media designers who create and maintain Web and mobile applications for NPR. This team is responsible for all technical aspects of npr.org’s back-end applications and front-end interfaces. The Digital Media Director serves on the company’s IT governance operations committee and helps sets strategy for NPR’s emerging digital asset management systems. The Director is also responsible for strategic hardware and software decisions and selected vendor relationships as well as all work processes and technical standards related to the development of npr.org.

Requirements:

The Director should be an experienced manager capable of managing and motivating a growing team and not afraid to dig into details. Advanced degree in computer science preferred, equivalent combination of education and experience accepted. Ten to 15 years technology work experience, with the last five or more years in a senior management position. Demonstrated experience managing all aspects of a 250,000+ page 24×7 Web operation with mobile and rich media applications.
