edweek.org, Executive Producer

Editorial Projects in Education — publisher of the leading publications in K-12 education, Education Week and Teacher Magazine — is seeking an Executive Producer to oversee edweek.org and its online-publishing team.

This key position, reporting to EPE’s President, reflects the organization’s dedication to the continued growth and expansion of its online-publishing efforts. The edweek.org site recently underwent a significant redesign and upgrade of its technology systems, creating a solid, stable platform on which the Executive Producer will be able to build and innovate.

The Executive Producer will have overall responsibility for the product, user experience, and content of edweek.org and other online-publishing extensions. He/she will direct the work of a director of interactive development and production, a technology lead, and a team handling design, development, and production. He/she also will oversee the work of three content producers responsible for Education Week, Teacher Magazine, and the Research Center, working closely with the senior editor or director of each content area.

This position requires a take-charge leader capable of generating ideas for useful product improvements and extensions, setting development priorities, and keeping projects and staff focused and on schedule/budget.

The ideal candidate should have five years of experience managing online product development in an editorially focused organization, including experience directing user interface design, development, and technology and managing outside vendors and business partnerships. Candidates should have demonstrated an ability to balance the needs of users, editors, and business interests. Some knowledge of the education field is desirable.

Experience in managing a dedicated team as well as working laterally with colleagues in other parts of an organization is important. Candidates must have strong communications skills, ranging from the ability to present an overall vision for the product to preparation of technical requirements to direct communications with users.

The suburban Maryland position offers a comfortable workplace, competitive salary, and unparalleled retirement and company-paid medical benefits. For a better understanding of who we are, visit our Web site at http://www.edweek.org.
