StarHub plans to leverage on its Cable TV’s extensive content and partnerships to distinguish its 3G mobile service from that of its rivals, SingTel and MobileOne. It’s a good way to stand apart, although they should reformat the shows (which will include things like football, music and infotainment services) to suit the smaller screen. At the moment it is trialling the service with 200 users.
“In the 3G trial, we focus on content. We believe content is one of the key drivers of 3G services……something that people are passionate about, has excitement. EPL is one of the most popular sports in Singapore, a lot of people watch EPL…….so EPL football is one of the major contents,” said Chan Kin Hung, head of StarHub’s mobile services.
