Do phone users want their m(obile) TV?

There’s a fair bit of controversy over what content will succeed on mobile phones, and leading the list is broadcast television on the mobile. Many people have derided the concept of watching TV on a mobile phone, claiming the length of TV shows means people aren’t going to be watching them on the move. However, a Nokia trial in Germany showed 80 percent of people wanted TV on their mobiles and were willing to pay 12 euros ($15.63) per month for it. This quote is probably the most informative: “On average, people watch three to 15 minutes. It’s typically news or music TV. Very rarely do they want a film–there are better receivers for that,” said Seppo Sutela, head of Nokia’s Rich Media department. “This will become a killer application for the mobile phone.”
I don’t know about “killer app”, but I think if there are stations that are designed specifically for mobiles and priced reasonably they would take off. Personally, I think the broadcast Tv concept (as opposed to the download and watch at will model) will need to be dedicated 24hr stations broadcasting similar but changing content, such as news or music, or possibly short comedy skits.
