Qualcomm adds SVG support for handsets

Qualcomm has licensed the BitFlash SVG Tiny engine (a subset of the full Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) XML-based specification optimized for mobile devices) for use in its multimedia suite that it offers to handset makers. The intent is for carriers to be able to offer SVGT-based services, such as location-based mapping software where the map itself can be scaled on the device rather than requiring a completely new image to be transfered each time.
