Malaysian telco DiGi has found a way to promote MMS – a celebrity lookalike contest with the prize of a Nokia 7610 handphone. The competition will likely be paid for by the revenues of thousands of MMS sent in for the competition, and made profitable by the charge for the return SMS, which is three times as expensive. It will also get people used to taking photos with a phone and sending them via MMS. Not bad.
