Telcos are ignoring US indifference to new features on mobile phones, certain that the market will take off once Americans get the hang of it. “At this point, though, carriers aren’t exactly sure what will catch the public’s fancy beyond e-mailing and, increasingly, instant messaging. So they’re throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks.” They’re also worried about pornographic content available on mobile phones, worried that America’s moral values will cause them to shoot the messenger, and thus poison the mobile-content industry.
