BBC To Cut More Online Content

The BBC has caved-in to government recommendations that it should outsource more of its online output to the commercial sector, while creating more links to and and partnering with many more third party digital companies than presently.

Netimperative 2: According to the report, by financial year 2006/07 at least 12m GBP worth of content and services will now be available to outside media agencies, up 70% from the current figure of 7m, GBP creating a cake that many agencies will be seeking to take a sizeable slice out of.

“Likely to benefit in the short-term are those agencies already on the BBC’s roster of preferred suppliers, although any new business development director worth his salt will be picking up the phone, regardless of whether his agency is currently on the roster or not.”
