China urged to draw up 3G build-out timetable

China’s government is being urged to provide a timetable for the rollout of 3G networks, lest the country fall behind other parts of the world.
“China’s officials have adopted a wait-and-see attitude toward 3G policy, and the government hopes delays in licensing will give home-grown TD-SCDMA time to catch up with the Europe-led W-CDMA and US-backed CDMA 2000 standards, which are already in commercial use.”
