Some highlights from Napster’s music service for Q3 (as part of parent Roxio’s earnings): Napster revenues overall grew 18 percent from the previous quarter, while online music revenue excluding hardware sales increased 33 percent sequentially.
Subscription revenues for Q3: 73 percent total music revenues, compared to 67% in Q2 and 50% in Q1….
Roxio expects Q3 revenue from its Napster division to grow to $11 million. The company also raised its fiscal 2005 estimate of Napster revenue to $35 million to $40 million from a range of $30 million to $40 million.
Conference call: Roxio/Napster CEO Chris Gorog boasted about its growing subscription service..or least the growing role of subscription for the company. He said that the 99 cent download services are on the decline, and subscription services will win out in the long run…
The company is planning an “aggressive” marketing campaign this Christmas and later to promote its portable subscription service.
