In U.S., the public TV station Thirteen/WNET New York, has been awarded $3 million grant for preserving digital TV programming. Also involved are WGBH Boston, PBS, and New York University.
All four institutions will work together to plan standards, procedures and facilities which will lead to creating a long term preservation archive for public TV programming produced in digital formats.
Will this become the Creative Archives (BBC’s intiative in UK, which I keep writing about here) equivalent for U.S.? I doubt it…
