Britain’s Channel 4 wants to launch MMS services around its programming to duplicate the success it achieved with Big Brother. However, fears that operators could not cope with message traffic, leading to a poor viewer experience, are stopping the broadcaster from launching.
TV shows such as Big Brother were largely responsible for the fast growth of premium SMS. If content providers don’t believe operator networks can cope, MMS development could falter.
