CNET Gets Serious About Blogging; Hires WordPress Founder

CNET Networks is getting serious about blogging, and not just using it on News.com. It has hired one of the founders of the popular WordPress blogging software (I use it to power my sister site MocoNews.net). The 20-year old Matt Mullenweg, announced it on his blog today (A profile of Matt in Houston Press)…

As the Houston Press story says, Matt will spend much of his time working on open-source software for CNET (Does that mean CNET will be pushing WordPress now, or buy out WordPress? [They probably can’t, since it is open source, but develop it and sell value-added services] Or use Matt to blog about open-source and community software etc? Or just use WP in their internal and external blogs? Not sure yet…)
