The Jordan, Edmiston Group has come out with some interesting data on the media-related (which includes online) M&As for the first nine months of this year
For online: In the first three quarters of 2004, M&A activity in the online media sector increased in both number of deals (up 57.1%) and transaction value (up more than eightfold), as compared to the first nine months of 2003. Noteworthy deals in the third quarter of 2004 included: Yahoo’s acquisition of Musicmatch for $160 million; Daum Communications’ purchase of Lycos Inc. for $95.4 million; and Viacom’s buy out of the 62% of SportsLine that it did not already own, for $46 million.
