I promise, no more Robbie news for another year after this…his Greatest Hits album is to be sold in memory card format for mobile phones and hand-held computers. The album will also come with video content and will work with high-specification mobile phones and many hand-held computers, such as the iPaq.
The card, at 29.99 GBP, will be available for sale at 600 Carphone Warehouse stores across the UK from next month…this release is part of Carphone Warehouse’s efforts to develop its own mobile content brand called Playmobile…
The Carphone Warehouse is already in talks with EMI to deliver more pre-loaded memory cards this Christmas.
Details in the press release here…
Of course, as is the case, the claim for being the first is not true..in U.S., the Atlantic Group, the parent company of Time Warner labels such as Atlantic, Nonesuch and Lava, last year teamed with Fearless Entertainment to release a compilation album in the MultiMedia Card format..it was to be sold through AT&T Wireless stores (at least that’s what the announcement was back then..not sure if they actually did it).
