OK, first let me say this: I can bet there are other services like this already…I have heard of a few, but can’t remember them now (UPDATE: Om reminds us: SlingMedia, also in stealth)…
Anyway, Orb Networks (the company is a spinoff from BravoBrava), and its new service, to be launched next month, will allows subscribers to remotely access their digital media files — even watch live TV — from any gadget with an Internet connection.
Orb’s streaming technology essentially keeps the same copy protections, including the usual restrictions against making digital copies and sharing them freely over the Internet, but lets users access their media however they choose…
The service is called My Orb, and will be available here…
Cost: $9.99 a month or $79.99 per year. Additional users off the same home-based account would have to pay $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year.
