A fascinating story about research developments in file sharing for academics..Researchers at Penn State are keeping developing and open-source software called LionShare. The P2P system will allow users to search their own and one another’s digital collections of documents, images, and other material to find a specific image — say, a picture of the new Olympic stadium in Athens.
LionShare, paid for in part by a $1.1-million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is still a long way from being introduced as a final workable program.
