A day after the news that FT.com has tied up with Sony Ericsson, comes the news that Nokia is rolling back its own portal, Club Nokia…the company argues that Club Nokia was only really intended to showcase just how good its colour screen and Java capable handsets are. But now there’s a huge market for logos and ringtones, it’s stopped offering these products.
FT (which first reported the news): The service, which has been online since 2000, has met with resistance from network operators who feared the handset maker was trying to compete for user revenues.
Club Nokia will continue to inform Nokia users of new products and provide support. Nokia will also sell more complex games for its N-gage gaming unit.
