The big IBC conference is happening this weekend in Amsterdam, and as usual, the broadcast and technology industry is out there in full swing. The official site has some good daily news from there…(Check the navigation on the right for day-to-day coverage)…
Among some stories:
– Peled calls for greater content protection: “Ultimately, advertisers will pay consumers directly for viewing their ads. It could easily end up that even in a so-called free-to-air TV model you could find broadcasters giving viewers two options: view all the ads and you can watch the show for free. Skip the ads and you’ll have to pay something.”
– Broadcasters: ‘Piracy isn’t just our problem’: “It’s not broadcasters which are the problem, but the internet and peer-to-peer swapping. Hollywood must be more careful over its content. The US majors are trying to impose too strict a regime. We in Europe must find our own solutions.”
– ‘We’re missing TV content’ says mobile: There’s a real gap in the market for content producers and rights-owners.
