Can Online Rescue Star Trek?

Is Star Trek ready for a gaming comeback? Perpetual Entertainment, a developer, publisher and operator of networked multi-player games, has announced that it has acquired the rights to make a Star Trek MMORPG, using the Paramount Pictures license.

The company also gained $6.5 million in financing, which should come in handy as they prepare to launch the game sometime in early 2007, with public beta testing scheduled to begin in 2006.

Softbank Capital led the second roundfunding, with Manitou Ventures, Mobius Venture Capital and Chengwei Ventures participating.
