(Real Audio File) Peter Jennings of ABC News was the guest on “Talk of the City” on KPCC radio…and he had some interesting things to say about ABC’s new 24 hour digital TV channel, and its distribution online as well as on mobiles…
He’s been watching the ABC news video feed on mobiles and said that he was not necessarily very happy about the whole situation…the smaller the screen becomes, the more impersonal it becomes. But then, he said, that’s how the world is going, and to be on the ground floor of this revolution, much before everyone else, was a good thing for ABC News…
AP: “I’m totally realistic about the audience,” Jennings said. “I similarly realize … we are on the edge of another technological change. As people continue to get news in different forms, it’s foolish if we didn’t take advantage of the new platforms.”
Despite the potential, actual viewers are rare. During the conventions, the nightly Internet audience was in the hundreds of thousands over the course of an evening. And on a good day, ABC News Now has 6,000 viewers through AOL at any one time.
