
Oh well…Disney’s delaying the expansion of its movie service Moviebeam (I reported earlier last month on the heavy investment the service is requiring to make it work in the present three test markets)…”We’re postponing the launch of the MovieBeam service (into new markets) for the moment until we finalize the specific device strategy for a more national launch in 2005,” [Salil Mehta, executive vice president of Disney’s corporate business development] told News.com.
“We’re having conversations to embed or include the MovieBeam technology in (third-party) devices,” which could include set-top boxes or technology industry PCs.
Update: AP: The most likely partner for Disney would be News Corp.’s DirecTV satellite service, said Gerry Kaufhold, an analyst for research firm In-Stat MDR.
