That is the rallying cry coming out of Intel’s headquarters. They might be getting their rear-end smacked by guys like Fujitsu, but Intel is putting a portion of its cash reserves on making WiMAX happen. This morning they announced that they were putting a lot of dough into tiny DSL provider Speakeasy.net. Financial details were not disclosed. In early 2004, Speakeasy also raised $24 million in a Series D financing round from 3i and BV Capital, among others. “Intel believes with technologies like WiMax and service providers like Speakeasy, broadband deployment in the United States will begin to accelerate,” said Scott Richardson, general manager of Intel’s Broadband Wireless Division. In other words, we will spend billions to make this shit happen!
