Dutch Premium SMS Firm Golden Bytes Raises Funding

Golden Bytes, a Dutch premium SMS services provider, has received expansion capital from Waterland, a private equity firm, through the issuance of new shares.
Golden Bytes focuses on both the development of SMS applications and the servicing of SMS traffic, with the company expected to have processed over 82 million messages in 2004. Deal terms for the transaction were not disclosed.
The premium SMS market is currently approximately Euro 100m in The Netherlands, over Euro 1bn in Western Europe and is expected to double in the next two years.
Also, in related news, the company has started a new venture aimed at developing music services for mobile phones, called Goldenbytes Mobile Music. For this white label service, Goldenbytes is to work together with digital licensing solutions provider Lyzia.
