Sprint Nearer To “Real TV” On Mobiles

U.S. operator Sprint will launch a higher-quality TV service for its wireless phones, through its new Samsung video-capable phones…
The service, available on a new Sprint PCS Vision phone, will stream video at 15 frames a second. Sprint’s existing television service, MobiTV, streams at a choppy 1 or 2 frames a second. The average TV set broadcasts its picture at 24 to 30 frames a second.
Sprint’s service will cost $9.99 a month and feature three-minute news clips from NBC, Fox Sports and The Weather Channel, as well as movie trailers. Additional “premium” channels, including CNN, E Entertainment and premium versions of Fox Sports and the Weather Channel, can be purchased for between $3.95 and $4.95 a month.
