BBC Sees New Technology Horizon

A continuation of BBC’s technology moves in putting its video content online…this time an interview with Paul Cheesbrough, BBC head of technology for production and technology direction. The interview looks at the tech needs of BBC, what kinds of technology it is investing in, and the remit to make its services more accessible, through online etc…

“Our website is predominantly Real Media at the moment and we’re finding that we’re having to roll out areas in parallel in terms of streaming into the most popular [readers]. So there’s a Real version and a Windows Media version of our radio player now, for example…You wonder whether, in 12 months’ time, we may have to do a QuickTime version as well.”
